THE GREEN CORRIDOR
A natural approach in the support of continuity
Familiarity Any intervention of such magnitude in a space so rich in history can create an irreversible rupture within the current urban life. Starting with valorizing familiar elements within the site, minimize the impact in such a manner that the citizens embrace the new ambiance more easily. The most familiar element that connects the entire public space is the pavement pattern in white dots on a dark background. Thus, we maintain its aesthetics and redraw it to gradually fades towards the square's entrance points.
Balancing Individual and Collective Presence
Victoriei Square is a space predominantly shaped by the imposing facades of the palaces.
These facades collectively represent a stunning array of Art Nouveau-inspired architecture, each possessing undeniable historical and artistic value. However, amidst the imposing grandeur of this monumental setting, characterized by a prominently accentuated axis, the unique character of these structures often gets overshadowed. Our proposal is an attempt to enrich the narrative of this otherwise fairly linear space, by creating a succession of 'courtyards' to highlight the distinctive character of each structure while preserving the overall unity of the ensemble.
